What does it mean for Fan page owners?

Facebook’s Twitter integration for fan pages is a great move by Facebook. Most of the Facebook fan page owners till now were updating both FB and Twitter for the same content. This change makes it easier for them to just log into Facebook and don’t worry about updating it on Twitter. I like to publish updates on Facebook because of the rich media experience it gives instead of twitter’s plain text messages.

I haven’t seen the details of what links will be sent to Twitter, but I think sending Facebook links for items will be an option. This will help FB get traffic and more fans for the fan page owners, a win-win for both.

I was part of an event on social media last night where we discussed the problem of multiiple tools available to promote businesses and if the marketers be selective or be everywhere. Megan Casey (Co-founder Squidoo) believed that marketers should concentrate on just one channel/tool (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) at one time and forget about the other tools during that time. Gary Swart (CEO oDesk) and Tony Welch (Social Media lead HP) believed that marketers should open up the firehose and try to get your message across as many users as possible.

With Facebook’s Twitter integration, it becomes easier for marketers to manage their messaging at one place. Would you pay for such a service where you can manage all (or most) of your social media accounts? If you know about any such service, let us know.

You can follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
